2025 progress and a brand new finished Visual Novel from me!

Hey everyone,

I Just want to start with this, I am really sorry that this game has taken quite so long to get over the line

Starting this project a few years ago undeterred by a lack of experience, I totally blew past what was actually feasible for a one man dev team working for free. I ended up with a 25,000 + word script and about 1000+ pieces of art, which I couldn't get done as an unfunded artist with no coding experience.

But instead of just abandoning the project, I retooled my idea and broke the game up into more manageable chunks. This included 'Goblin Brothel' the new intro chapter to the game that I started work on earlier last year with a much more manageable amount of work involved....or so I thought.

When I got down to it; it was still too big a project to tackle by myself as a first time solo dev and I still wasn't very comfortable with coding or putting together an actual game.

So I had an idea; I started a new project. One that was much smaller in scope, and much more streamlined in terms of game design and assets needed. A few days ago I finished and publish that game here on Itch.

'The Wolf and The Warren' started as simply an exercise to see if I could get a 'full project' over the line in terms of the art needed and the actual coding of a full game, neither of which I was actually sure I could do when it came down to it. But i'm happy to say that I got there in the end. I done over 200+ pieces of bespoke art, made music, made sound effects and put the whole thing together myself. It still ended up being so much more work than I anticipated; but i adjusted and I think that added to the overall quality of the title, at least I know now that it's impossible to plan perfectly, just get as close as you can.

So now I've finished my first full visual novel, and i'm ready to properly resume my work on Tarragh's Quest and The Short Stay. I can plan better now, and i'm not worried about actually being able to put together a playable game. Again, i'm very sorry about the time you've had to wait but i'm happy to say that there's nothing stopping me from tackling this game with a newfound confidence and you're going to start seeing more work uploaded very soon!

Thanks again for keeping interested in the project, If you want to check out The Wolf and The Warren, please do and there's a free demo on the page and I'd really love for you guys to check it out, have a gander at the trailer! If you'd like to check the Patreon page you can, even add yourself as a free member just to keep up to date with what i'm at with the game but any support really helps with the development.

Apologies for the long winded update here, but there was a lot I needed to clear up and I hope you're all still here for the game. So, here's to 2025 and some real Orc progress! Please feel free to leave a comment if you want more information on anything.
